A hurricane is a tropical storm that has reached speeds of 74 mph or more. In order for a hurricane to form there must be warm water, atmospheric disturbance, light winds, and upper level divergence or air spreading outwards. First the hurricane starts out as a tropical storm. The tropical storm then meets up with warm moist waters. As the moisture evaporates it creates warm moist air that are spu high in the atmosphere. Then the winds begin to spin creating a hurricane.
